Hey Reader, Did you find any of your Monsters? Did they pop up in the wild? Did you resonate with some of the Monster Archetypes? Another place our Monsters like to hide is in our Dreams! Last night, I had a dream that a "bad guy" was chasing me through a grocery store! I ran to a check-out person to ask for their help and this person chasing me ran up to us and tried to convince the cashier that I was crazy! One way of working with our dreams is to imagine that all the characters are aspects of ourselves. I could step into the shoes of this "bad guy" - a Monster - and speak from their point of view! Here are some things I might ask this particular Monster to help me get into character: "What is your name?" I'd really lean in to their point of view too! I'd get on their side, reflect back what they are saying and agree profusely with them. I'd give them validation and reassurance ("That sucks! I can't believe that happened! I'd feel that way to). Then I'd go back to some of those same questions we posed to our Inner Managers. Here they are again to remind you:
Have you had any Monsters show up in your dreams lately? Bring them to the Monster Playdate - this Saturday, April 27th from 1 - 4pm CDT. Tickets are $50 and you can grab them (along with more info) at this link. It can be so much easier to be with our Monsters when we're surrounded by empathetic witnesses who can hold the space for us while we tap into our most unpalatable, uncomfortable, and unlikeable parts! That's why Monster Playdates - either in a group or 1:1 are so very healing. The next email is the last one in this series...and I think it's the most important one! Got any Monster questions? I'll address those in the next email too - just reply and ask away! Sweet Dreams, Julie P.S. In my 12 week group program, Daddy Issues: Somatic Reparenting for Procrastinators, Perfectionists, Rebels, Misfits, and Messes, we have regular Monster Playdates as a way to work with our Core Wounds - those beliefs you created in childhood that keep you feeling stuck. The next cohort starts September 3rd. Reach out if you want more info about this 12 week program - including how you can grab it at the beta test price. P.P.S. If you missed Part 4 of this series, you can go back and read it here. |
Reader, Lately, I’ve been struggling to get back to the gym (I've been struggling with a lot, like everyone else - making getting to the gym a lot harder)It was a habit I had on lock for over a year. I don’t love going to the gym — but it meets a lot of needs. It helps me feel healthy, strong, confident. It reminds me I can do hard things. And that feeling? That, I do love. But then… life happened. You know...you're probably going through it too.Things shifted. And I haven’t been able to return...
Hey Reader,Yesterday, Cory Booker stood on the Senate floor and spoke for 25 hours and 4 minutes. He broke the record set by Strom Thurmond—the longest filibuster in history—turning it on its head, reclaiming it. He did it to disrupt business as usual. He did it to disrupt the news cycle. He did it to speak up and speak out.To give voice to the millions of people steamrolled by policies, profits, and power. He did it to do something to push back and say: enough is enough And almost...
Hey Reader, For the last several months, I’ve been devoted to growing my audience. And there’s been this persistent, gnawing knowing in my gut:Video is the way. Not because I want to do it. I don’t. But every time I try to sidestep it—reach for something easier, more comfortable, more behind-the-scenes—I land right back at the same truth:If I want to grow, I have to be seen. And for me, that means video. Still, I’ve been dragging my feet. Avoiding. Procrastinating. Getting swept up in false...
